Description

The WebUpd8 extension has been created for easy access to the latest articles on http://www.webupd8.org.

Installing this extension will add a button on the Chrome / Chromium toolbar that displays the number of unread articles. You'll also get notifications each time a new article is published (the timeout is set to 15 minutes).

Clicking the WebUpd8 icon on the toolbar lists the latest 15 articles: unread articles have a small thumbnail and a description while for read articles, only the title is displayed. You can click each item in the popup to visit the article on http://www.webupd8.org, at which point the article will be marked as read. Also, when clicking on a new article notification, the item will be marked as read and the article will be loaded in a new browser tab.

You can also mark all items as read using the button on top of the extension popup window.

The extension has been tested with Google Chrome stable (24) and unstable (26) as well as Chromium unstable (26).

About WebUpd8: this is an Ubuntu / Linux / open source software blog which delivers daily news, tips and application reviews. We follow the Ubuntu and GNOME development and keep you up to date with everything new and interesting.

What has inspired us?

Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
