Match the News is a plugin that brings you the most relevant news in a sidebar that are related to the web page you are currently browsing. Periodically, new articles are being indexing on our server coming from famous news gathering APIs : AlchemyAPI, NewYorkTimesAPI & TheGuardiansAPI.
The data we collect from your side is the content of the page that you are browsing in order to extract the most important keywords to search in the news index. Of course, you have the option to block websites that you don't want to get the content of and this is something that can be configured from the settings panel. Also, you have the option to enable your geolocation tracking for more enhanced results relevant to your country location.
Match the News has been developed by Antonis Skandalis at the DBNet Lab of Athens University of Economics and Business, as part of his BSc diploma thesis. École Polytechnique students at the LIX Lab - Nataniel Ruiz & Yann Tekam - have also contributed on this project, as well as the PhD candidate Polykarpos Meladianos.
Finally, all this work has been under the supervision and guidance of our professor Michalis Vazirgiannis.
