Sick of hunting for something to watch? FilmFish is the world's first people-powered movie recommendation site, harnessing the power of human intelligence and insight to bring you exactly what you're in the mood for.
Our team of film-buffs have divided 15,000 movies (that's 5,000 more than Netflix offers in its entire database) into one and half inuitive 'smart-genres': lists that capture the essence of what makes two films similar. Using this novel map to the cinematic world users can quickly and easily find the films they'll love.
*** How it works ***
The process is simple. Type in a movie you like into the search bar. We'll give you the recommended smart-genres for that particular film, articulating in human terms the elements that might appeal to you about it and the option to discover more of the same.
*** Why we're better ***
The idea for FilmFish came from the frustrating experience of using current algorithmic suggestion sites to find movies. Computers break down films into their composite parts and then connect these fragments, which results in a lot of tenuous connections. Human beings on the other hand are able to define the essence of what makes a movie a movie, and then communicate that essence in a clear and appealing way. Our hand curated smart-genres capitalize on this unique ability in order to provide users with a service that thinks about movies the way they do.

Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
