Description

Some web pages (e.g. the References section of Wikipedia pages) contain bibliographic information encoded into hidden HTML elements according to the library community specification Context Objects in Span (COinS) - see http://ocoins.info

This extension transforms all COinS found on a page to links based on the OpenURL standard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenURL) that point to the worldcat.org gateway (or to other Link server).

This extension would help library users giving them access to the full text of articles referenced on web pages with COinS .

Updates:
v. 0.5 - Manifest-file changed to version 2, new icons
v. 0.3.x - Added option for selecting an icon for the resolver link anchor. Changed the handling of COinS with additional content - it is replaced only if it is not a link.

v. 0.2.x - Added Options page. It enables users to configure the base URL for the Link Resolver to servers other than the WorldCat gateway. - To find the Options page: after installing the extension - 1) type chrome://extensions/ in your address bar (or click the wrench icon, then Tools, then Extensions) 2) Find the extension entry in the list of extensions, click on Options

There are 3 "Custom.." input boxes on the page. One can enter additional Link Resolver URL-s there. Make sure to click the radio button next to the Resolver URL you wish to be used from the extension. (The radio buttons are disabled if the corresponding URL box is empty)

What has inspired us?

Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
