Shorte.st Link Generator

Description

Since a Chrome extension allowing me to utilize my existing shorte.st account to quickly and automatically generate shortened URLs of the current page in Chrome tab just by clicking a browser button did not exist, I decided to write one.

If you are already an active member, this extension will generate and automatically copy to the clipboard a shorte.st link of the current tab being viewed using your account API token using the single button added in the Chrome toolbar.

For 1st time setup, it requires logging into your shorte.st account, and visiting the developer API page at:

http://sh.st/c6Oer

If you execute without having stored your personal API token, it is okay. The extension will prompt you and provide a link to the required page. It is the only option required.

The API token is stored in google's chrome sync'd storage, meaning once you enter it once it will sync across all of your chrome desktops right along side of the extension!

Please note the one permission required to read the current tab's URL is "read all websites" - without it, Chrome will not allow the plugin to read the current URL to send to shorte.st for link generation. That is the only thing being read the URL, sent to shorte.st, then clipboard access to write the returned shortened URL to the clipboard.
