Digital Compass is a choose-your-own-adventure, interactive digital literacy game available in English and Spanish. Developed for 6th to 9th graders, Digital Compass lets kids step into the shoes of eight characters to experience the twists and turns of daily digital life.
Invite students to explore digital dilemmas, make good (and not-so-good) decisions, and try out possible solutions through stories and mini-games – all without risking their real-world reputations. Discover how Common Sense Education’s award-winning digital literacy and citizenship curriculum seamlessly integrates into blended-learning environments.
Digital Compass is developmentally appropriate for middle school students and offers opportunities to the do the following: explore, experiment, make decisions (deductive reasoning), rationalize (abstract thinking), take risks, judge conventions (conventional reasoning), assert individuality, express themselves, form relationships (non-platonic), and interact with peers. It provides a safe place to explore decisions and their outcomes.
The game features eight topical modules with eight corresponding mini-games and printable extension materials, all tied to curriculum categories:
o Cyberbullying
o Privacy
o Creative Credit & Copyright
o Information Literacy
o Internet Safety
o Digital Footprint & Reputation
o Self-image & Identity
o Relationships & Communication
Each module has 9 endings, 32 paths, and 51 unique combinations based on decision points.
Quantitative assessment consists of an individual’s scorecard (which can be printed) and records:
o Percentage score of story paths completed
o First percentage score of mini-gameplay (pre-assessment)
o Percentage score of highest mini-game-play
Each mini-game consists of three levels of gameplay, and has randomized content to encourage repeated play.
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
